Position Objective
Tyler Technologies is hiring a Senior Disaster Recovery Specialist. This position manages the disaster recovery transfers for Tyler's software clients, ensuring that current data is available for use during a disaster. The Senior Disaster Recovery Specialist will work closely with IT Management to keep all team members focused on team and department goals and with the Tyler Datacenter Operations Team for the allocation and monitoring of physical datacenter resources. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with disaster recovery planning and system administration, and will have strong working knowledge of writing and maintaining scripts using Pearl, PowerShell and/or Python.
Responsibilities
Provide team leadership by reviewing, assigning and monitoring open issues, including all customer and vendor tickets
Serve as the point of contact and escalation for Tyler disaster recovery staff and clients
Monitor client data transfers to ensure the expected data is received and is viable
Install and configure the software used for client data transfers both within the data centers and at client sites
Maintain a disaster recovery plan for all disaster recovery clients
Coordinate disaster recovery testing per client request
Coordinate disaster recovery hosting during client disaster declaration
Monitor and maintain the software needed for receiving client data transfers and for SaaS operations backups (data vaults)
Configure and monitor backups and replication of Hosting Services servers and systems
Assist with Hosting Services business continuity planning and documentation, maintenance for the SaaS hosting environments at the Tyler datacenters, and testing of the business continuity plan and audit requirements
Assist Disaster Recovery Specialists with technical issues and day to day operations
Take ownership for assessing training and education needs for both team members and customers, and provide the needed training through various methods
Work off-hours as required in support of weekend on-call staff
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS or equivalent experience
Prior experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases
Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows 7/8, Server 2008/R2, Server 2012/R2)
Work comfortably with Linux/Unix type operating systems (AIX, RedHat ES)
Prior experience with shell scripting and/or programming (PowerShell, Kron, Shell, cscript, Perl, Python and/or Windows CMD)
Understanding of principles and concepts for disaster recovery and business continuity
Working knowledge of data backup and off-site replication strategies
Excellent customer service, organizational and communications skills
Experience with database import, export and backup practices
Familiarity with virtualization technologies a plus
DCI ABCP or CBCP Certification is a plus
Prior experience with server troubleshooting and upkeep a plus
eVault experience is a big plus
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
